The On Fire mode is the key to beating this game. You need to drop fruit three consecutive times to catch on fire, and you should be able to do so two or three times per level.
What this allows you to do is shoot through bubbles no matter the colour.

Through testing I have found that if you choose an area that has only two together, such as the top row shown in the image, you will get through them. If you have more than 2 you will need 2 fire balls.
